About the Aurora Games
The Aurora Games is the inaugural all-women’s sports and entertainment festival, which will be held at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY on August 20-25, 2019. The Aurora Games will feature more than 175 of the world’s most accomplished, professional female athletes during a spectacular six days of competition in women’s gymnastics, figure skating, tennis, basketball, ice hockey and beach volleyball. Clifton Park Youth Hockey is proud to announce The Moffre Family Scholarship in honor of the many years of dedication from Joe and Amy Moffre to our organization and to the Clifton Park Community. Their commitment for over 18 years has been a model for volunteerism and giving back to community.
This $750.00 scholarship will be awarded to a hockey player that displays commitment to their community as well as to their sport. The applicant should be a high school senior that has or had played for CPYHA for at least 3 seasons and will be attending college or technical school in the Fall of 2020. The deadline for application is January 22, 2020. The award will be presented at our annual Coaches’ for Charity Hockey game in late February/early March of 2020.
Please submit an essay of 1,000 words or less and include:
- why you feel you are uniquely qualified for this honor.
- experiences that have made you the type of person worthy of this award including your time with CPYHA, and how you and your family have given back to the community.
- what your time playing hockey has taught you
- what are your plans after graduation from high school
- how you feel you will continue to “give back”
- PLEASE INCLUDE 2 letters of reference from either a coach, teacher, supervisor, community leader, etc., that can vouch for your commitment to team and/or community.
